2 elderly Dearborn women hospitalized following violent assault on St. Patrick’s Day

DEARBORN, Mich. – Police are investigating the sexual assault of two elderly women in Dearborn.

It happened at a home near the intersection of Southfield Road and Outer Drive on Sunday, March 17, at about 2 p.m. Police said two elderly women were “severely abused and sexually assaulted” by a man who broke into the home. Medical aid was given to the victims before they were taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries.

After interviewing witnesses in the neighborhood, police tracked down the suspect at a nearby motel, where they were taken into custody. His identity is being withheld until he is officially arraigned.

Police believe he acted alone and that there is no threat to the public.

The investigation is ongoing.
