DETROIT – Dr. Kimberly Andrews Espy was officially sworn in as Wayne State University’s first female president on Monday, March 18.
The Wayne State University Board of Governors unanimously voted to elect Espy as the university’s 13th president back in June.
Espy said she was honored and humbled to be a part of “the next chapter” of Wayne State University.
“We have the chance to do something we don’t do often enough to reflect on the essence that sets us apart,” Espy said.
Before being sworn in at the DIA, Espy has had more than 25 years of experience working in higher education, most recently as Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs at the University of Texas.
“Wayne State Wayne State is truly a special place, a dynamic force for Detroit and beyond, a nexus of learning and research of access and community engagement that differentiates us in the higher education landscape,” Espy said.
