Sex offender accused of assaulting child, 2 elderly women on same day in Metro Detroit

Man to be arraigned Wednesday for separate assaults

DEABORN, Mich. – A man accused of assaulting a girl and two elderly women in two different Metro Detroit cities on the same day was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday.

On the morning of Sunday, March 17, a man reportedly attacked a 13-year-old girl at an Allen Park home. Police said the girl was at a sleepover when she was sexually assaulted. It was unclear how the man got access to the girl.

The girl reportedly ran to a nearby home, screaming for help after the assault. Authorities say the man who attacked her was a 52-year-old who stands 6 feet and 5 inches tall.

At around 2 p.m. that same Sunday, the same man is accused of sexually assaulting two elderly sisters at a home in Dearborn near Southfield Road and Outer Drive. The man reportedly knocked on the front door, told the women their roof needed work, and then pushed his way into the house. He then attacked the women -- one in her 70s, and the other in her 80s.

“It’s upsetting to think somebody could come in, break into someone’s house, and just do what he did,” neighbor Bill Berger told Local 4.

It was discovered that the man accused of the assaults is a registered sex offender in Michigan. He was later found and arrested at a Melvindale motel.

An arraignment for the man was scheduled to take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20. His identity was not being released until he had been officially arraigned on charges.

It was not immediately clear exactly what charges he faced.

“I think as time goes on, and people get arraigned and court cases go on, this alleged person’s background will come out, and I think it’ll shock people even more,” said Chris Egan, chief of the Allen Park Police Department.
