DEABORN, Mich. – A judge has denied bond for a registered sex offender accused of assaulting two elderly sisters in Dearborn on St. Patrick’s Day.
Michael Holcomb, 52, is facing sexual assault and torture charges after reportedly forcing himself into the women’s home on Sunday, March 17.
Dearborn police did not confirm if he was involved in the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in Allen Park on the same day, but acknowledged that are currently not involved in that investigation and did not have any information.
Holcomb reportedly knocked on the front door of a home on Carlysle Court in Dearborn, told the women their roof needed work, pushed his way into the house and then attacked the women -- one was 78 years old, and the other was 85 years old. One woman reportedly had mobility issues.
Police said they were brutally beaten, sexually assaulted and tortured.
“The alleged actions of the defendant in this case are among the most egregious and deplorable that I have seen in my 30-plus years in criminal law. The facts truly shock the conscience,” said Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy. “The victims were brutalized, tortured, and repeatedly sexually assaulted.”
Both women were provided with aid and transported to a hospital to be treated for their injuries. They remain hospitalized, but they are expected to survive.
He was later found and arrested at a Melvindale motel.
“Absolutely reprehensible,” said Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin. “This was a terrible crime. In my 26 years, it’s one of the most heinous things I’ve seen and witnessed. I will pray for the victims and their families.”
During Holcomb’s arraignment on Wednesday, March 20, the judge said that had been convicted of second-degree criminal sexual conduct in 2010.
Holcomb has been charged with five counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct causing injury, two counts of torture, one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm.
He was remanded back to jail after the judge denied bond. If convicted, Holcomb faces the possibility of life in prison.
