A beginner’s guide to the Marche du Nain Rogue

The annual celebration has become a true “if you know, you know” event in the city of Detroit, but it seems that the parade and party gets bigger and bigger as the years go on.

What started as a parade attended by a couple hundred people back in 2010 has grown into a parade that draws in thousands of attendees every year. It’s fun, festive and has a DIY aesthetic that keeps folks coming back year after year. It’s like Detroit’s own version of Mardi Gras.

How Michigan’s summer could be impacted by La Nina replacing El Nino

A very strong El Nino is at least partially responsible for the warmest winter on record in Michigan this past year.

There is growing certainty that the current El Nino ocean condition is fading and being replaced by La Nina. If we look to the past, it could spell a very warm, humid season.

Let’s get back to the basics of the difference between El Nino and La Nina. El Nino is when the equatorial Pacific Ocean water becomes warmer than the long-term average. La Nina represents cooler than normal Pacific Ocean water at the equator.

Dusty May to become head coach of Michigan basketball, per reports

Michigan is hiring Florida Atlantic’s Dusty May as its next head basketball coach, according to reports.

May, 47, is one of the hottest names in the coaching carousel this offseason after leading the Owls to a Final Four appearance in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

ESPN basketball insider Adrian Wojnarowski reports May has agreed to become Michigan’s next head coach. The report says a “long-term contract” is being worked out Saturday night.

Leader of dark web trafficking ring pleads guilty to drug charges, prosecutors say

A Detroit man prosecutors say was the leader of a dark web drug trafficking ring pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute illicit and counterfeit pills.

Victor Hernandez, 30, admitted that he was involved in a conspiracy to distribute illicit substances, a conspiracy to launder monetary instruments, his distribution of counterfeit pills, and the use of firearms in furtherance of the crime.
