CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man accused of stabbing a pregnant woman to death over the weekend was arrested in Macomb County and expected to be charged soon.

UPDATE: Man charged with stabbing pregnant girlfriend to death in Macomb County

Charges were expected to be brought against the man, whose identity has not yet been revealed, sometime this week. The man is believed to be responsible for stabbing a pregnant 30-year-old Sterling Heights woman several times, killing her.

Sterling Heights police say they conducted a welfare check at 3 a.m. on Sunday, March 24 at an apartment near 18 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue. Nobody was inside the apartment when they arrived, but authorities found blood in the hallway, officials said.

That same day, Clinton Township police were called to the area of Harper Avenue and Glenwood Street, where a man was reportedly covered in blood. Police said there they found the 30-year-old woman, who had been stabbed multiple times.

She was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. Her identity had not been provided as of this writing.

It was not immediately clear where exactly police found the woman, or whether it was inside or outside. Police did say that a man, believed to be the one covered in blood, was taken into custody.

Charges were expected to be brought against the man this week, though it was not immediately known what charges he faced.

Police had not confirmed many details about what happened as of Monday morning. We’ll share more details online and on air as they become known.
