ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The ongoing situation in Royal Oak, which caused police to warn residents to avoid the area, has ended safely, according to officials.

Royal Oak police had been out at the home since at least 7 p.m. After hours of back-and-forth, the situation ended safely with a successful conclusion, officials said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Prior to the situation’s conclusion, there was a significant police presence on North Campbell Road and Whitcomb Avenue.
The Royal Oak Police Department posted on X describing the scene: “We are currently working a scene in the area of N. Campbell Rd. and Whitcomb Ave. Expect a large police presence, and avoid the area until further notice.”
Officials have not said what occurred as of 10:50 p.m. Monday (March 25) but said more information would be released later.
