DETROIT – UAW President Shawn Fain’s criticism of domestic automakers for unequal pay among workers and his call to end tiers is reportedly causing internal division within the union.
It is revealed that there is a union within the UAW, consisting of those who negotiated national and local contracts.
While the rank and file benefited from the recent contracts, there are concerns that UAW management is not prioritizing equal pay for equal work.
According to some members who didn’t want to speak on camera, a proposed new contract reportedly introduces more tiers and delays reaching top pay levels and a discrepancy in bonus money allocation, with only the top 40 staffers allegedly qualifying for significant bonuses.
