TYRONE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Three people were killed and more were injured early Sunday when a driver lost control and crashed in Livingston County.
Five people were in a vehicle heading southbound on US-23 in Tyrone Township around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 31. The driver lost control of the vehicle then near Fausett Road. The vehicle drove off the highway and rolled, Michigan State Police said.
The crash killed a 16-year-old girl, a 18-year-old man, and a 44-year-old woman. All three were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The driver, a 44-year-old man, was taken to the hospital. His injuries were not reported, and his condition wasn’t completely clear -- though police said he was in stable condition as of Sunday afternoon.
An 18-year-old man was also rushed to the hospital after the crash. Authorities said he was in critical condition on Sunday afternoon.
The driver and the passengers were all related, MSP said. Their exact relation to one another was not immediately known.
No other vehicles were involved in the rollover crash. Police don’t believe alcohol or drug use were related to the crash. It was unknown what caused the driver to lose control on the highway.
More information about those killed and injured was expected to be released by police at a later time.
