EASTPOINTE, Mich. – Two men and two women were injured Monday night when a vehicle pulled up alongside theirs and began shooting in an Eastpointe neighborhood.
On the night of Monday, April 1, four people were sitting in a parked car outside a home on Dijon Avenue, a neighborhood off Beaconsfield Avenue near 9 Mile Road. At around 8:57 p.m., a vehicle pulled up next to theirs and fired several shots, Eastpointe police report.
Four people in their early 20s -- two men and two women -- were injured in the shooting, a source tells Local 4. It was initially believed that three people were injured.
Officers first arrived a few blocks away on Kelly Road, where the shooting victims were after the fact. The men and women were taken to the hospital and were “receiving care for their injuries” as of early Tuesday morning. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.
Eastpointe police reportedly found several shell casings in the road on Dijon Avenue, as well as several bullet holes in the front of the home where the victims’ car was parked. Authorities said they interviewed the residents of the home, but it was still unclear whether they were involved in the shooting. The four people shot also “did not supply any further information” about any possible suspects or motive, police said.
Investigators were still working to learn who was responsible for the shooting and what vehicle they were in. No other details were available as of this writing.
