Dashcam video: Suspected drunk wrong-way driver arrested in Macomb County

Woman charged with operating while intoxicated and possession of controlled substances

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 37-year-old woman from Macomb Township was arrested after reportedly driving the wrong way on M-53.

It happened March 18, just before midnight. Shelby Township police said they were notified of a northbound Ram in the southbound lanes on M-53, near 23 Mile Road. Police officers worked to shut down traffic on the freeway to avoid a collision with other drivers as other officers attempted to stop the truck. The driver ended up stopping on 27 Mile Road.

Police said the driver, Alexandria Marie Remington, smelled of intoxicants, refused to take a preliminary breath test and was taken into custody.

Dashboard camera of the incident can be seen in the video player above.

Remington was charged on March 19 with operating while intoxicated and possession of controlled substances. Her bond was set at $25,000 cash/surety, 10%.
