A 37-year-old man was charged in an alleged shooting at his home in Warren after a fight with a man from Detroit.
The incident occurred on Saturday (April 6) when Derrick King, 37, and his girlfriend got into an altercation at a party in the Detroit home.

Officials say the 24-year-old victim intervened and started fighting with King. The girlfriend shouted that the 37-year-old had a registered gun, and the three parted ways.
The girlfriend went to the home she shares with King and stayed in her vehicle while the 37-year-old drove up on his motorcycle. Moments later, the victim pulled up in front of the house and exited his vehicle.
Officials say King was standing in his driveway when both men began fighting and then separated.
While the 24-year-old began backing up, King allegedly shot 12 rounds at the victim, hitting him multiple times.
Officials said the victim is in critical condition at a Metro Detroit hospital.
King is charged with the following:
- Assault with Intent to Murder (life felony)
- Felony Firearm (two-year mandatory felony)
- Carrying Concealed Weapon (five-year felony)
- Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm (five-year felony)
- Felony Firearm (two-year mandatory felony)
- Prohibited Person in Possession of Ammunition (five-year felony)
- Felony Firearm (two-year mandatory felony)
The 37-year-old is also being charged as a habitual third offender.
He was charged in 37th District Court, where bond was set at $300,000 cash/surety with no 10%, and if released he must wear a GPS tether and have no contact with the victim.
A probable cause cause hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, April 16 at 8:30 a.m. and a preliminary exam is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23 at 8:30 a.m.
“The alleged twelve shots fired at an unarmed man walking away shows a total disregard for human life,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “We will not tolerate this behavior in Macomb County.”
