4Warn Weather – A wind advisory was active Friday for all of Southeast Michigan as rain rolls through the region.
Strong winds were expected throughout Metro Detroit on Friday, April 12 as a weather system drops rain all day. Winds were moving at 20-30 mph, with gusts of 45-50 mph possible, according to the National Weather Service.
Wind gusts could reach 55 mph in the Thumb region.
A wind advisory was in effect from 8 a.m. Friday to midnight for the following counties: Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Washtenaw, St. Clair, Livingston, Lapeer, Genesee, Lenawee and Sanilac.

A wind advisory is issued when winds are strong, but “not so strong as to warrant a high wind warning,” the National Weather Service says. A high wind warning is issued when an area is expected to experience sustained winds of 40 mph or greater, with gusts of 58 mph or greater.
People in counties under the wind advisory Friday should watch out for fallen tree limbs and flying debris. Drivers, especially those in high-profile vehicles, should be cautious on the roads, the NWS reports.
