Westland police want help finding 75-year-old man missing for nearly a week

Man needs medication that he left at home, police say

WESTLAND, Mich. – Police in Westland are asking for the public to help them find a 75-year-old man who has been missing for nearly a week.

James Sanford, 75, was last seen at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 8, when he left his home in the 37000 block of Westwood Circle. His home is in the area of Joy and Newburgh roads. He is considered missing and endangered.

Police said officers have been searching for him on the ground and with help from the Michigan State Police Aerial Unit. They have been using thermal imaging to assist with the search, but have had no luck.

Sanford is described as being 5′9′' tall and weighs 220 lbs. He was last seen wearing blue sweat pants, a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt, black gym shoes, and a blue “USA Baseball” ball cap. He has grey facial hair on his chin.

Police said Sanford needs medication that he left home without. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Westland Police Department at 734-722-9600.
