CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A teenager was killed and two other drivers were injured when he crossed the center line of a Macomb County road and crashed into an SUV and a pickup truck.

The crash happened at 7:14 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2024, near the area of Groesbeck Highway and Macomb Industrial Drive.

Police said an 18-year-old man was driving a white 2013 Chevrolet Impala north on Groesbeck Highway while a silver 2023 Chevrolet Blazer merged into the center lane to try to turn south on North Avenue.

As the Impala approached North Avenue, the driver crossed into the center lane and crashed into the Blazer, then careened into oncoming traffic and crashed into a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, officials said.

The driver of the Impala was taken to McLaren Macomb Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The 38-year-old woman driving the Blazer was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries and later released.

The 49-year-old driver of the Silverado was treated for a minor injury and released at the scene.

Police don’t believe drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.

Clinton Township police continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call 586-493-7802.
