WARREN, Mich. – The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office has amended charges against two former Warren police in connection with an alleged traffic stop assault.

The incident reportedly happened in Center Line in July 2023, when Dammeon Player Carlos Taylor conducted a traffic stop on a semi truck outside the officer’s jurisdiction. Player is accused of using unnecessary force during the arrest of the victim.

In March, Player was charged with felonious assault and public official willful failure to uphold the law. On April 19, 2024, his charges were amended to assault with a dangerous weapon and misconduct in office.

Taylor was originally charged with willful failure to uphold the law and assault and battery. A third charge of misconduct in office was added.

Player is expected to return to court May 8 and Taylor is expected to return to cour June 5.
