Owner of popular orchard forced to pay up for racist rant
The owner of a popular orchard in Monroe County has been forced to pay up for a racist rant that was caught on video last year.
Local 4 dove deep into the situation last fall when a video surfaced of Steve Elzinga raging against Muslims and telling the Mahmoud family they couldn’t leave his orchard.
The family filed a civil lawsuit after the incident, and the owner has now paid to settle the family’s civil lawsuit on Monday (April 15).
Here’s what to do if you find a stink bug in your home
They’re here. Stink bugs. Crawling out of their hiding spaces and into view. Ugh.
There’s good news and bad news about seeing stink bugs this time of year. The good news is they’re on their way out of your house -- the bad news is they’ve been there all winter. Gross.
So, what should you do? Michigan State University says the first step is “try not to panic.” I usually fail that step. What’s next? You should look for gaps around window air conditioners or holes in window screens. Block those off. Anything that could serve as an easy access point for stink bugs should be closed off.
