DETROIT – The NFL Draft is just days away and work is happening all over Downtown Detroit.
With the final preparations, the final road closures are set to go into effect at midnight, Wendesday, April 24.
Getting around Downtown Detroit is not going to be easy.
The closures go into effect on Woodward and Michigan Avenues, Congress, Larned, Fort and Monroe streets. So what is the best way to navigate?
“Since Woodward is going to be mostly closed, the People Mover is the name of the game,” said Sam Krassenstein, the city’s Chief of Infrastructure.

Starting Thursday at 7 a.m., the People Mover will run every five minutes, 24 hours a day.
The 13 stops around the 3-mile loop will get you close to restaurants, hotels and NFL Draft locations.
The QLine is also an option, and if you’re driving, you’ll want to be aware of the shuttles.
“We also have a fan shuttle option in Corktown for people coming from the west side, you can park at Bagley Hub,” Krassenstein said.

If you still have your heart set on driving and parking as close as you can get to the action, check out the River East Parking Garage on Rivard Street.
