TROY, Mich. – PanCan Purplestride Michigan will hold a walk for pancreatic cancer research on Saturday at the Troy Community Center.

The walk will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Troy Community Center at 3179 Livernois Road in Troy, Michigan.

The event village opens at 8:30 a.m. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. The walk begins at 10 a.m. and the event ends at 12 p.m.

“We’re bringing together pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters in your community for a memorable day, and we want you there. Walk around the event village, grab a snack, write on the tribute wall, take pictures with your family and friends in the photo area, and be inspired during the opening ceremony before you set off on the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.”

Adena Hejl was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a year ago and is fighting cancer and working to raise awareness.

“I have been certain that I am going to beat this and help others by creating awareness and letting them know that no matter what you go through, it does get better,” Hejl said. “I have had a support system that I did not even know I had! My friends have been the wind beneath my wings and have done so much for me to help and support me! People have come from everywhere to help with food, prayers and so much more. I am fighting for my life as I have tried all the chemotherapy and radiation that was aggressive and yet still this cancer continues to invade my stomach and keep spreading. I am a mother of two teenage boys with a loving husband and I am not giving up! God’s got me!”

Hejl said they will be walking on April 27. Join Hejl’s team or donate at secure.pancan.org.
