BELLE ISLE, Mich. – Police have revealed some information about a shooting that happened Monday on Belle Isle.
Shots were fired around 10:40 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2024, on the island.
Officials with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy went to Belle Isle to try to arrest a parole absconder on a tether. He is believed to be 35-40 years old.
The man was at the driving range on Belle Isle. When officials tried to make the arrest, a shot was fired and struck the man who was being taken into custody, according to authorities.

He was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Nobody else was injured.
Michigan State Police’s Special Investigation Section is investigating the shooting.
