Police say paramedics made it to the location and pronounced the man deceased.
The initial incident occurred after the gunman shot a victim three times at 1:36 p.m. in the 9100 block of Carlin Street.
Officials say the victim was transported to a Metro Detroit hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses say the shooter ran into a home where he barricaded himself inside the residence.
“The victim was found shot three times in their lower extremities and was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” said Detroit police Deputy Chief Arnold Williams. “At this time, we talked to a witness who stated that the individual who fired the shots ran into the house,” Williams said. “Officers got to the house and secured the location and, at that point, declared a barricaded gunman.”
