YPSILANTI, Mich. – Fire crews in Ypsilanti earned feathers in their caps Tuesday after rescuing several baby ducklings.
The rescue happened Tuesday at the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest. Hotel staff said a duck was found in distress in the parking lot and when staff went to investigate, they found more than a dozen ducklings had fallen through a drain grate.
Proving they aren’t quacks, crews from the Ypsilanti Fire Department arrived quickly, removed the grate, climbed into the drain and lifted the ducklings out individually to freedom.
Hotel staff said “Momma duck was relieved (as we all were!) and she marched them back to our pond.”
