Community kicks off fourth season of ‘Walk a Mile’ Wednesday in Detroit

White told Local 4 what he learned during Wednesday’s walk

DETROIT – Walk a Mile” Wednesday kicked off its fourth season in Detroit.

Detroit police Chief James White was out walking with the community and department members on Wednesday (May 1).

The event took place at the Ann Arbor Trail Magnet Middle School, a hub of community activities located on Chatham Street.

The walks are a tradition for Whites as they allow them to connect with the community and hear what’s going on in the city.

White told Local 4 what he learned during Wednesday’s walk.

“I learned on a walk that people love this community,” said White. “It’s still a very beautiful and vibrant community. They wanted to talk a lot about the NFL draft and congratulate us on a successful draft and talked about the great work by the Detroit Police Department.”

White was asked for an update on the Naziyah Harris case.

He said there was a briefing on Wednesday, and he is preparing to announce more about the case soon.
