Suspect in Monroe County party store robbery arrested in Toledo

MONROE, Mich. – The man believed to be responsible for an armed robbery in Monroe County was arrested after reportedly fleeing to Toledo, Ohio.

The armed robbery happened just before 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at a party store in Ida Township. According to authorities, a man wearing coveralls, gloves and a facemask entered the store, implied he had a weapon and demanded money from a store employee. He ran off with an unknown amount of cash to a vehicle that was parked and waiting nearby.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were able to identify a potential suspect and suspect vehicle, along with a partial Michigan license plate. Using license plate readers, authorities said they could identify the entire license plate and find the vehicle in Toledo, Ohio.

A felony warrant request for armed robbery was issued on Tuesday, April 30, for Anthony Lee Cline, a 32-year-old man from Monroe Michigan. He was arrested that day in Toledo and lodged at the Lucas County Jail.

Cline was charged in Monroe County on Thursday, May 2, with armed robbery. He was issued a $500,000 bond with GPS lockdown tether.
