C.J. Barrymore’s marks 50th anniversary with exciting new go-kart experience

Mega makeover had been in the works for several years

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – If you heard whoops of joy in Macomb County, it likely came from  C.J. Barrymore’s.

Construction on the track started in September 2023, and now it’s ready for go-kart racers to use.

To mark their 50th anniversary, they debuted the new $3 million Indy SkyTrack on Friday (May 3) night.

It’s a three-story track with a steep descent. Riders lined up all night to try it.

The go-kart track costs $12 to ride. The height requirement is 60 inches for a single cart and 40 inches for a double cart with an adult.

“The old track was an Indy track, and it was a fan favorite,” said David Dalpizzol, who is a vice president at C.J. Barrymore’s.

Plans to go give it a mega makeover had been in the works for several years.

The new Indy Skytrack has drivers go up three stories and then down.

Dalpizzol knew it had to be special. Friday night, it opened to the public.

The first fifty on the track were chosen by contest.

Catherine Finnigan, who had been taking her kids here for two decades, was one of the winners.

“It was just amazing, the track is slick it’s just super cool,” said Finnigan.
