DETROIT – A triple-shooting in broad daylight left two people dead and one person injured at a home in Southwest Detroit over the weekend.

Just after 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, shots were fired at a home that was believed to be vacant in a neighborhood on 33rd Street near Michigan Avenue. The area was busy with people due to Cinco de Mayo celebrations.
Two women were killed in the Sunday shooting. Their ages and identities weren’t immediately known.
A man in his 30s was in critical condition after the shooting. He was taken to the hospital.
Detroit police said Sunday that they’re looking for two Dodge Durangos in connection with the shooting: A newer model that’s gray or silver, and a black Durango possibly from 2005 or 2006.
It wasn’t immediately known what exactly led to the shooting, though police believe the people involved knew one another.
Detroit police said both of the Durangos pulled up to the home and “engaged in conversation while the front door was open to the house,” Charles Fitzgerald, assistant Detroit police chief, said in a press conference. The driver of the older-model Durango then drove away, police said.
A man then got out of the newer model Durango, walked toward the front door of the home, and “fired the first couple rounds” before going inside the house and firing “approximately three or four more,” Fitzgerald said. That man reportedly walked back to his car and drove off.
That man is believed to be the only person responsible for carrying out the shooting. It wasn’t immediately clear how many people were in the two vehicles now wanted by police.
It also wasn’t clear whether the three victims were all inside the house when they were shot.
The home appeared to be vacant, and Detroit police said that no one was supposed to be in the house, technically. Fitzgerald said it was possible those killed and injured in the shooting were living inside the home.
