Pedestrian fatally struck by driver in Monroe County

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – A driver in Monroe County has fatally struck a pedestrian.

The incident occurred on Thursday (May 9) at 4:30 a.m. on Will Carleton Road near Port Creek Road.

Officials say a 38-year-old man from Willis, Michigan, was driving a black Lincoln passenger car eastbound on Will Carleton Road.

The Lincoln then struck a 27-year-old man from Canton who was walking in the roadway.

The 27-year-old was pronounced on the scene, and officials say alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing, but anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Michigan State Police at 734-242-3500.
