Giant mural-painted cleats created for NFL Draft auctioned off to benefit Detroit charities

20 artists partnered with Detroit charities

DETROIT – The giant mural-painted cleats created for the NFL Draft have been auctioned off to benefit local charities.

The DCLEATED project involved 20 local artists partnering with Detroit charities to paint cleats that were showcased during the NFL Draft.

After the draft, the cleats went up for auction to raise money for their respective charities.

The auction winners were announced Saturday during a celebration attended by the artists, winners, project organizers and the benefiting non-profits.

“We want to kiss them goodbye as they’re going to live with their owners permanently,” Detroit Deputy COO Jessica Parker said.

Parker said all the cleats sold and the project raised more than $80,000 in total.
