PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 21-year-old from Canton Township was among two people killed in a two-car rollover crash on a highway in Plymouth Township.

The crash happened at 3:20 a.m. Sunday, May 12, 2024, on northbound I-275 near Ann Arbor Trail.

Michigan State Police officials said a 46-year-old woman from Jasper, Michigan, was driving a Ford Edge south on I-275 and lost control.

The SUV crossed into the median and went up the embankment to the northbound lanes of the freeway. It rolled over and was struck by a northbound Buick LaCrosse, police said.

The driver of the Edge and her passenger, a 21-year-old Canton Township resident, were pronounced dead at the crash scene. Troopers said they were not wearing seatbelts.

The driver of the Buick suffered minor injuries, officials said.

Police shut down I-275 during the investigation. They said it’s not yet known what caused the Edge to leave the southbound lanes.
