DEARBORN, Mich. – A man accused of running an illegal dental clinic in his Dearborn basement has been sentenced for a deadly shooting.
The shooting happened in July 2023 in a Dearborn neighborhood on Olmstead Street, near the city’s downtown. Police said a dispute over dental work escalated into violence and 28-year-old Ahmad Nesserdine was shot in the head at the home.
The alleged dentist, Zayed Albodour, was charged with first-degree murder and felony firearm. He was held without bond. The victim’s family said Nesserdine went to Albodour to save money on a root canal and veneers, but he had been in constant pain ever since.
Authorities confirmed Monday, May 13, that Albodour will serve 10-30 years after he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and a weapons charge.
Albodour was rejected to practice dentistry in the state of Minnesota after the board found he did not have the proper education to be a dentist.
