Man caught opening mailed package prompts police investigation in Dearborn

DEARBORN, Mich. – Police are seeking information about a man suspected of unlawfully possessing a package delivered to a residence in Dearborn.

The incident occurred on Friday (May 9) at 2 p.m., when a community member confronted the man as he was opening a mailed package on the sidewalk near the 7200 block of Pinehurst Street.

Cell phone footage showed the man walking away from the opened package upon being confronted.

Officials said they had no reason to suspect the package may have been illegally taken from a nearby residential porch.
