FARMINGTON, Mich. – Downtown Farmington is hoping to attract more residents and businesses by investing into it’s downtown outdoor spaces.
To make it happen, the city is looking toward crowdfunding to make it happen.

All of the money raised will be matched and will go toward a spaced called Masons Corner.
Kate Knight, executive director of Farmington’s Downtown Development Authority, says outdoor public spaces are a big deal to businesses and the city is hoping to retain them while also attracting even more.
“A lot of our businesses here on Farmington Road don’t have outdoor seating in the traditional sense. So Dinan Park serves as that,” Knight says.
Dinan Park was the city’s first crowdfunded project.
In 2023, more than 300 people donated and the city received a match from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. Now, the MEDC is offering a match for the Mason’s Corner project.
“It’s very beautiful,” Knight says. “It’s really a trailhead of sorts for our two major streetscapes downtown Grand River and the road to reconstruction there to make it more walkable and accessible. This is the gathering point.”
The hope is to raise $75,000 for Masons Corner, which would then be matched by MEDC.
However, the crowdfunding time is running out with just 23 days left to receive that matching grant before construction begins on July 1st.
