MILFORD, Mich. – A lottery club in Oakland County won $1 million playing Mega Millions.

The 21-member “Lunchroom Ladies” lottery club from Milford matched the five white balls in the Jan. 16, 2024, drawing. They purchased the winning ticket at the BP gas station on 9 Mile Road in Southfield.

“We are coworkers and have been playing the Lottery as a club for a while,” said one of the club members. “I checked the ticket at a store and when I found out we’d won $1 million, I was in complete shock! I called all the club members and told them we won big, but a lot of them had a hard time believing me at first.”

The club recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim their prize.

“Everyone in our club agrees that winning feels like a dream and it still hasn’t fully sink in for anyone yet,” said the club’s representative, Marc Swoish.

Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday night.

“The only thing more fun than playing Lottery games with your friends is winning big prizes with your friends,” said Lottery Commissioner, Suzanna Shkreli. “Congratulations to the Lunchroom Ladies lottery club on a huge win in the Mega Millions game.”
