SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police said they saw a driver in a stolen car getting fast food at a Macomb County restaurant, so they waited for him to finish his order and then took him into custody.
Shelby Township officers got a report on May 2, 2024, that a stolen 2024 Nissan Altima with Ohio plates was in the area of Hall and Schoenherr roads.
When police found the car, it was in the drive-thru lane of a fast-food restaurant, they said. They confirmed that it had been reported stolen on April 23, 2024, out of Detroit.
After the driver completed his order and started to leave the parking lot, officers stopped the Altima without further incident.
The driver, Jamarius Marcell Jackson, was taken into custody. A passenger was detained and later released.
Multiple identification cards and other documents with names and pictures on them were found inside the Altima, police said. Officials believe the IDs and documents could be linked to identity fraud.
Jackson was arraigned May 3 at 41-A District Court on a charge of receiving and concealing stolen property worth $20,000 or more.
He is being held on $10,000 bond, cash/surety, or 10%.
