DETROIT – Police in Southfield are trying to find two women who they believe were victims of human sex trafficking.
It’s in connection with an investigation that started with a police chase out of Southfield that ended in a crash in Detroit.
Police said they were tipped off to two men allegedly sex trafficking the women at the Red Roof Inn near 12 Mile Road and Northwestern Highway. When the two men were spotted on Monday, May 13, officers attempted a traffic stop, which led to the police chase that ended in Detroit.
The driver reportedly ran a red light and struck an Uber driver at the intersection of West Outer Drive and James Couzens Freeway. The Uber driver was critically injured after being ejected from her vehicle.
48-year-old Ricky Edwards, Jr. and 60-year-old Paul Alan Dave were taken into custody.
Police are still looking for the two women believed to be human sex trafficking victims. Authorities said they were taken to a hospital, but they immediately left.
