STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A story of faith and fate for a pair of elderly developmentally disabled twins takes a turn when their sole caregiver disappears after being struck by a car, leaving them alone for four days.
Their story is stunning because it could have gone so many ways, with each outcome not being good.
The twins’ caregiver was injured in a pedestrian car crash 23 days ago, which is a lifetime ago, especially when you have no place to go and no one even knows you’re afraid and alone.
Gary and Glenn, 76 years old, are developmentally disabled twins who need 24-hour care and supervision. Their sole caregiver, who is their older sister, Carol, was struck and critically injured as she crossed a street against the light.
She landed in the hospital, and for four days, no one knew Gary and Glenn were alone or even existed.
