Firefighter arrested for assaulting colleague during house fire in Detroit

DFD called DPD and the firefighter was arrested

DETRIOIT – A Detroit firefighter had to be taken into police custody over the weekend for assaulting a fellow firefighter at the scene of a burning home on the city’s west side.

DFD called the Detroit Police Department, and the firefighter was arrested.

Detroit firefighters are known as some of the best in the business at fighting fires, not fighting each other while also fighting fires.

The home was burning on Meyers Road near Schoolcraft Road at 2 a.m. on Saturday.

Detroit fire crews arrived quickly to the significant fire inside the home, and the firefighters got right to work.

But sources told Local 4 that something went wrong with a firefighter who comes from a Detroit firefighter family where he allegedly assaulted a fellow firefighter as they were fighting the fire to the point where the chief on the fire scene had to call Detroit police for help.

We are told that he was in his fire gear, and officers arrested the firefighter and took him to the Detroit Detention Center.

“It was a very busy weekend, and we’re looking into that as well,” said White. “I’ll have something to say on that as I review all of the evidence. With that, I will tell you he’s been released.”
