FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A teenager in a pickup truck was arrested for pointing a gun at another driver several times while their two cars were side-by-side on I-75, police said.
The exchange happened around 9:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in the northbound lanes of I-75 near Nadeau Road in Frenchtown Township.
Monroe County deputies said a 19-year-old man from Newport was driving north on I-75 in a white GMC pickup truck.
There was some type of exchange with another driver, and the teen pointed a handgun at that person several times while they were side-by-side on the freeway, police said.
The other driver called police and gave them a description of the pickup and the handgun. Deputies caught up to the cars on North Telegraph Road near I-275, and the teenager was taken into custody.
Police said they found two unregistered handguns inside the pickup truck. The driver did not have a concealed pistol license.
He is charged with felonious assault and carrying a concealed firearm.
