Woman shot in Macomb County when walking partner yelled at driver who blew through stop sign

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – A woman was shot in Macomb County when the man she was walking with yelled at a driver who blew through a stop sign.

The shooting happened at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the intersection of Collinson and David avenues in Eastpointe, police said.

A 36-year-old woman and a man were walking, and as they were about to cross Collinson Avenue, a car went through the stop sign and almost hit them, officials said.

The man shouted at the car, and the driver turned around. More words were exchanged and the driver fired shots, striking the woman twice in the leg, police said. The man was not struck.

Officers had to use a tourniquet to stop the woman’s bleeding. She is stable.

Police are looking for a dark four-door sedan. Anyone with information is asked to call the Eastpointe Police Department at 586-445-9416.
