Jury convicts 2 men in murder-for-hire plot of Oak Park jeweler

Dan Hutchinson murdered in June 2022

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A jury convicted two men in the murder of well-known Oak Park jeweler Dan Hutchinson.

On Thursday, May 23, 2024, an Oakland County jury found Marco Bisbikis and Roy Larry guilty for their part in the shooting death of Oak Park jeweler Daniel “Hutch” Hutchinson.

Hutchinson was murdered on June 1, 2022, while sitting in his SUV outside a store on Greenfield Road in Oak Park. Hutchinson was shot and killed and his wife was shot in the leg.

Bisbikis and Larry had been charged with first-degree premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree premeditated murder, assault with intent to murder, and two counts of felony firearm.

The trial lasted eight days. Prosecution called 21 witnesses and admitted over 200 pieces of evidence. The jury deliberated for an hour and a half before reaching an unanimous verdict.

Bisbikis and Larry are being held at the Oakland County Jail until sentencing. Their sentencing is scheduled for 11 a.m. on June 12, 2024.

First-degree premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder are felony offenses. Both men face up to life in prison without parole.

“The evidence revealed an elaborate and shocking sequence of events that ultimately led to the murder of Dan Hutchison and the attempted murder of Marisa Hutchinson,” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said. “I am proud of the diligent work from the trial team and the law enforcement professionals who investigated this case, which allowed us to present the jury with overwhelming evidence. I commend them for their unwavering commitment to justice for the victims and the community. This was a horrible and tragic crime and I hope that today’s verdict brings some peace to the family and loved ones of Dan Hutchinson.”

Two other people, Darnell Larry and Angelo Raptoplous, had already pleaded guilty to related charges.
