Detroit man accused of attempting to give money to ISIS twice

Court documents allege Pratt knew ISIS was a terrorist organization he reportedly attempted to give it money.

DETROIT – A Michigan man is facing federal charges after reportedly attempting to provide money to ISIS twice.

According to authorities, Jibreel Pratt knowingly attempted to provide financial support to the jihadist group ISIS on March 15, 2023 and then on May 4, 2023. Court documents allege Pratt knew ISIS was designated a terrorist organization by the United States Secretary of State as a terrorist organization when he reportedly attempted to give it money.

Pratt was arrested Tuesday, May 28, at his home in Detroit. He was charged with two counts of providing material support or resources to designated foreign terrorist organizations. If convicted, he faces up to 40 years behind bars.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office has requested Pratt be held in detention due to a flight risk.
