SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – If you live in Macomb County and you recently received this letter, police want you to know it’s a scam.

A letter sent to residents in Shelby Township appears to be from the Macomb County Tax Assessment Office, according to officials.

“Even though this letter appears to be legitimate, this is a scam,” police said. “If you feel that you have an outstanding balance, please contact the Macomb County or Shelby Township Assessors Office.”

The Macomb County Assessing Office can be reached by calling 586-992-0710, extension 2.

As of now, it’s unclear if residents in any other Macomb County cities or townships have been targeted.
