GOLDEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – We’ve learned more about the woman who saved her daughter before being killed in a crash at the sand dunes of a popular Michigan park.

The crash happened around 11:40 a.m. Sunday, May 26, 2024, in the “drag strip” area of the Silver Lake State Park sand dunes in Golden Township, Michigan.

WOOD-TV reports Kadie Price, 33, of Pierson, Michigan, was watching the races with her family outside their vehicle. One of the racing drivers accelerated and lost control of his Jeep CJ and crashed into the Price family vehicle, according to the report.

Price pushed her 2-year-old daughter out of the way to safety before she herself was struck, officials said.

Witnesses and first responders tried to save Price, but she died from her injuries.

Oceana County deputies believe Price saved her daughter from serious injuries “or worse.”

Since the crash, WOOD-TV has learned that Price was the mother of two young children and the wife of a Kent County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

“It’s clear online that the agency is coming together and doing everything it can to support Deputy Price and the couple’s two toddlers after Sunday’s devastating accident,” the report says.

The identity of the 64-year-old Jeep driver has not yet been revealed.

The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.
