MILAN, Mich. – A corrections officer who worked at the federal prison in Milan is accused of having sex with an inmate who was under her authority.
Cara Wozniak, 33, of Milan, is a former corrections officer at FCI Milan.
On Sept. 26, 2023, Wozniak had sex with an inmate who was under her authority at the prison, according to an indictment.
She is also charged with providing contraband to an inmate from April through November of last year.
Wozniak is charged with committing a sex act with a ward and providing contraband in prison. The first charge is a felony that carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, and the second charge is a six-month misdemeanor.
“Sexual misconduct by prison officials compromises the safety and security of the whole institution and is completely unacceptable at Milan or any other correctional facility,” United States Attorney Dawn Ison said.
