SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A heartbroken family is pleading for clues in the deadly shooting of a teenager inside an Oakland County hotel.
15-year-old Tyler Johnson died five days after he was shot at the Westin Hotel in Southfield. The shooting happened in February and there still have been no charges in connection with his death.
Tomika Alexander can’t believe she hasn’t seen her son Tyler in more than four months after he was shot in the head at a sleepover with a stolen Glock handgun.
“I can not sleep. I can not eat. My son will not rest in peace because justice has not prevailed,” Alexander said. “I don’t understand how a sleepover could have led to my son being murdered and no one knows who did it.”
It’s even harder to know that so much time has passed and no leads have come out of the case when it happened in a room full of teenagers. Sources said an adult may have been responsible for bringing multiple unsecured weapons to the room.
“No parents, children, or the authorities have brought any information that has led to any arrests,” Alexander said.
As time goes on, the family won’t give up hope that one day whoever was responsible will be held accountable.
“His friends and their parents, everyone has failed me right now,” Alexander said. “I’m very livid and we just need to get justice.”
