Driver ejected, killed in rollover crash on I-94 embankment in Macomb County

Fatal crash reported at Harper Avenue exit in Clinton Township

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A driver was ejected and killed in a rollover crash after going down the embankment of I-94 in Macomb County.

The crash happened at 9:49 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the southbound Harper Avenue exit ramp on westbound I-94.

Clinton Township police said a man was driving a gold 2001 Mercury Mountaineer west on I-94 when the SUV went south off the exit ramp and down an embankment.

It’s unclear if the driver was trying to exit the freeway, officials said.

The Mountaineer rolled, and the driver was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
