DETROIT – Police in Detroit hit the city’s east side Wednesday in a show of force to keep families safe.
They held a “Community roll call” in an effort to show the community that its officers are committed to addressing their concerns.
It’s a different effort from the “One Detroit” plan, which focuses on illegal guns. Restore Peace is about connecting with people.
When police talk about efforts to crack down on crime, they’re talking about people. That’s why the Detroit Police Department is partnering with federal law enforcement to go after illegal guns to get them off the street while prosecuting people for gun crimes federally.
“This operation is going to be going as needed to different sides of the town,” said Deputy Chief Arnold Williams. “We’re going to make sure that every precinct, every side of the city gets the attention that it needs.”
