Gas station awning collapses, catches fire in Farmington Hills during storm

One person was reported with minor injuries

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Officials say heavy wind damage to the awning at a Farmington Hills gas station caused it to collapse and catch fire.

When it collapsed, the awning landed on two vehicles, a motorcycle, and a fuel pump, briefly catching fire.

The damage underlines the severity of the incident, which occurred on Wednesday (June 5) at 3:47 p.m. at a Citgo gas station on 10 Mile and Middlebelt roads.

Police confirmed that one person suffered minor injuries.
