DETROIT – A 15-year-old boy from Detroit has been charged in connection with the non-fatal shootings of another 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, who are both from Detroit.

The shooting happened at 9:16 p.m. on Friday, May 31, in the 13300 block of Lauder Street. Police said while the shooting victims were walking around Robson and Lyndon streets, the 15-year-old fired multiple times into a crowd. A 15-year-old and 16-year-old boy were injured.

The 15-year-old boy is not being charged as an adult, but has been adult-designated. If convicted, an adult designation allows the judge to sentence the teen as a juvenile or adult or to create a blended juvenile sentence with the option of imposing an adult sentence if the teen is not rehabilitated.

He has been charged with five counts of assault with intent to murder and five counts of felony firearm.

A preliminary hearing was held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, and he was given a $50,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether.

A preliminary examination is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on June 17.
