‘New’ evidence prompts motion to withdraw guilty plea in Oxford High School shooting

Attorneys have filed a request to have shooter to be resentenced

Attorneys for the Oxford High School shooter filed a motion to withdraw his guilty plea in the deadly school shooting.

Attorneys have filed a request to have the convicted shooter to be resentenced.

The State Appellate Defender’s Office argues that new evidence shows witnesses could have testified about the shooter’s childhood troubles.

The teen pleaded guilty to 24 charges, including murder, in 2021 when he was 15 years old.

The office also questions whether he knew what he was doing when he pleaded guilty.

He was sentenced in December 2023 to life in prison. His parents were convicted of manslaughter earlier this year in 2024.

So far, no comment yet from the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.
